Terms and conditions for using our service
Last updated: April 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using MazeDIY you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the platform.
Service Description
MazeDIY provides tools to convert images into maze games, manage generated content, and share creations with the community. MazeDIY is a technical service that transforms images into maze formats; we do not verify, endorse, or assume responsibility for the copyright status or legal compliance of user-uploaded images.
User Content
Ownership
You retain all rights to original material you upload. You represent that you have permission to process and share that content.
Generated Content
Generated maze data is derived from your uploads. When you publish a maze you grant MazeDIY a worldwide license to host, display, and promote it.
Responsibility
You must ensure your uploads and published mazes do not infringe third-party rights or violate applicable laws.
Copyright Responsibility & Service Scope
MazeDIY is a technical service that converts images into maze formats. We do not verify, endorse, or assume responsibility for the copyright status, licensing, or legal compliance of images you upload. You are solely responsible for ensuring that any image you upload: (1) is owned by you or you have obtained proper authorization/licensing to use it; (2) does not infringe any third-party copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights; (3) complies with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.
⚠️ Important: You must independently assess and manage copyright risks for all uploaded content. MazeDIY only provides image-to-maze conversion services and does not act as a copyright verification or licensing service.
Copyright complaints & takedown
If you believe content on the platform (including user-published mazes or decoration assets) infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please submit a proper notice. We will review and may remove content, restrict access, or take action against repeat infringers. You agree you are responsible for the content you upload/publish and will cooperate by providing proof of rights or licences if a dispute arises.
Data Handling
Original uploads are processed transiently and never stored. Only the generated maze data that you choose to publish is retained, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Pricing & Payments
All paid features and future subscription plans are billed in United States Dollars (USD). Prices are exclusive of taxes unless stated otherwise, and you are responsible for any currency conversion fees imposed by your payment provider.
We may update pricing with notice. If a subscription plan becomes available, your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
Analytics & Advertising
We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation to measure anonymised usage patterns. You may opt out via the GA opt-out add-on or browser controls.
We display advertising through Google AdSense. Google may use cookies or similar identifiers to personalise ads according to your settings at adssettings.google.com.
Acceptable Use
You may not use MazeDIY to distribute unlawful content, harm the service, interfere with other users, or attempt to reverse engineer the platform.
Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of our service are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
Repeat Infringer Policy
MazeDIY does not host or store the original images you upload — they are processed transiently and discarded. Generated mazes themselves are abstract line patterns and rarely retain identifiable copyrighted content. Even so, we take third-party rights seriously.
Upload responsibility. By uploading an image you affirm that you own the image or have obtained the rights necessary to use it. You agree not to upload images that infringe a third party's copyright, trademark, publicity rights, or other intellectual property rights — including but not limited to copyrighted characters (Disney, anime IP, sports leagues, video game characters), brand logos and trademarks (Apple, Nike, Coca-Cola, etc.), photographs of identifiable people without their consent, and any media you are not licensed to redistribute.
Notice and takedown. If a rightsholder submits a valid takedown notice (see /copyright-policy), we will (i) delete the offending maze record from our database, (ii) notify the user who created it, and (iii) record the incident against their account.
Three-strike rule. Three valid takedown notices against a single account, or any account associated with the same user (matching by email, payment method, IP address, or device fingerprint), will result in permanent suspension of all associated accounts. Active subscriptions are canceled without refund of the current billing period. Active Commercial Use Certificates are revoked, and the verify URL is updated to display “Revoked”.
Cooperation with rightsholders. When properly served with a legal request, we will share the user information we have on file (registration email, IP address logs, Stripe customer ID, generated maze metadata) with the requesting rightsholder or their counsel, in accordance with applicable law.
License Scope & Commercial Use
Personal use license. The Free, Premium ($0.99 per maze), and Premium Plus ($4.99/month) products grant a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use mazes generated on MazeDIY for personal, non-commercial purposes only. Permitted activities include: printing for your household, classroom use by a single teacher with their own students, gifts, hobby projects, and personal social media posts that do not generate revenue.
Commercial use requires a separate certificate. A Commercial Use Certificate (perpetual $49 or annual $99) is required for any of the following:
- Selling printable mazes on Etsy, Teachers Pay Teachers, Amazon KDP, Gumroad, or any other marketplace
- Including mazes in books, ebooks, magazines, calendars, or other paid publications
- Using mazes in paid online courses, paid memberships, or paid downloads
- Using mazes on physical merchandise sold to others (apparel, mugs, packaging, posters, party kits)
- Using mazes inside a commercial product, app, or paid service offered to third parties
- Distributing mazes as part of a paid bulk pack to other educators or businesses
What the certificate does and does not grant. A valid Commercial Use Certificate authorizes you to use mazes you generated on MazeDIY in the activities listed above. It does not grant: ownership of the maze generation algorithm, the right to resell or transfer the certificate itself, permission to misrepresent yourself as the author of the underlying technology, or any rights to MazeDIY trademarks, the website source code, or third-party decoration assets that ship with the platform.
Attribution. No attribution to MazeDIY is required when a valid Commercial Use Certificate is in effect, but a link or credit is appreciated.
Source images and trademarks. The certificate does not extend to images you upload. If you upload a photograph, logo, or any third-party material you must independently hold the rights to use it commercially. Generating a maze from copyrighted, trademarked, or otherwise restricted source material does not cleanse those underlying rights.
Misuse and remedies. Using MazeDIY outputs commercially without a valid Commercial Use Certificate is a material breach of these Terms. We may, at our discretion, (i) issue a written notice and require retroactive license purchase plus a reasonable administrative fee, (ii) revoke any active personal-use subscription, (iii) suspend or terminate the offending account, and (iv) pursue any further remedies available under applicable law, including takedown notices to marketplaces hosting the infringing material. We may rely on Stripe payment records, account email, IP and device information, and observed marketplace listings to evidence misuse.
Verification. Each Commercial Use Certificate is identified by a unique number and is verifiable at mazediy.com/verify/{number}. Marketplaces, partners, or compliance teams may use this URL to confirm a certificate's status (Valid / Expired / Revoked).
Subscriptions, Refunds & Cancellation
Premium Plus subscription. Premium Plus is a monthly recurring subscription billed via Stripe. You may cancel at any time from your account; the subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period and will not renew thereafter. We do not pro-rate partial months.
Annual Commercial Use Certificate. The annual certificate ($99/yr) auto-renews. If you cancel, the certificate remains valid through the end of the paid term and your verify URL continues to show "Valid" until that date. We do not re-issue revoked or expired certificates without a new purchase.
Refunds. Subscriptions and one-time products are refundable within 14 days of purchase if you have not made substantive use of the product (for example, fewer than ten downloads or no revenue generated under a Commercial Use Certificate). Refund requests beyond 14 days are evaluated case-by-case. Email ixmasdong@gmail.com with your Stripe receipt or certificate number to start the process. Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days.
Effect of refund. Refunding a Commercial Use Certificate immediately revokes the associated authorization; any commercial use after the refund date is unauthorized and subject to the misuse remedies described above.
Service Availability
We strive to maintain high service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to our services.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of our service at any time without notice.
Termination
Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these terms.
Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately, and we may delete your account and data.
Limitation of Liability
MazeDIY is provided on an "as is" basis without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform.
In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these terms will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with Swedish law.
The arbitration will be conducted in Stockholm, Sweden, and the proceedings will be in English.
Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
